The Digital and Financial Literacy Tales Project (FinLit Tales) developed by the OTP Fáy Foundation and the Constantine the Philosopher University in 2022, aims to improve the financial literacy and awareness of children through storytelling and drama education. The unique concept is made up of a series of free interactive educational presentations based on 3 Slovak and 3 Hungarian folktales. The self-developed folktale adaptations are complemented by financial and economic education content, audiovisual elements and playful exercises. The experiential approach (edutainment) supports the effective assimilation of knowledge and the development of a future-oriented attitude among students.
The folktale presentations were delivered by the Slovak and Hungarian partners’ trainers and experts in the form of in-person trainings and online streamings, as well as in camps and special events, reaching over 4,000 primary and secondary school students in Hungary and Slovakia during the project period.
Besides raising the financial and future consciousness among children, the joint project has also contributed to cross-border knowledge sharing, promoted mutual cultural recognition and understanding and facilitated the development of effective educational cooperation between the partners due to the joint methodological trainings and content development co-operations.
As a result of the positive feedback from teachers and students the folktales presentations have become a steady part of the Foundation’s education portfolio and are among the most popular ones ever since.
