European Regional Development Fund
Food industry represents an important part in the industrial portfolio and economy of the Danubeland, and has a great development potential – however, it is poorly specialized, and therefore is not able to attract specialized
workforce.
The main purpose of the project is to create a sustainable food industry in the border areas, which will be internationally competitive while supporting the development of new working places as well, via the increasing productivity and efficiency of the businesses. Through the development of production lines and the implementation of new technologies, the competitiveness of involved SMEs will be boosted; resulting in higher added value of their products and reduced value of food production waste. Also, the introduction of new food processing equipment will necessitate more qualified work force whose training will be also realized in this project. Employees of the SMEs and the consumers of food products will also utilise the results of the developments. Moreover, the project will create a sustainable cross-border labour market for the food industry, which will enhance the local economic competitiveness of both border regions in the sector. The cross-border nature of the project will further increase labour opportunities and mobility.
