A handover ceremony was held in Košice to inaugurate the first investment of The Future in Hemp regional action plan under the Interreg Slovakia-Hungary programme. The inauguration ceremony of the completely renovated four-storey building took place on 15 June in the Téhány district of Košice, which will house a complete sewing factory and provide work for several sewing workers.
The investment project in Košice is part of the cross-border economic development action plan for the reconstruction of the Carpathian Basin industrial hemp economy, launched in 2020 under the coordination of the Hungarian National Strategic Research Institute.
The basic objective of the action plan is to reduce unemployment, create new jobs in the northeastern region of the Hungarian-Slovak border region and to develop the modern, competitive and growing demand for industrial hemp as a traditional and ecologically efficient crop in several industries, such as food, cosmetics, textiles, construction and health.
The opening speech at the handover ceremony of the new dressmaker's building was given by László Nádasi, Director of the Research Institute for National Strategy. Speeches were delivered by Ágota Hetey, Consul General of the Consulate General of Hungary in Košice, György Gyimesi, Member of Parliament, Rastislav Trnka, President of Košice County, Ján Nigut, Mayor of the Téchany district of Košice and Miloš Ihnát, Mayor of the Téchany housing estate of Košice. All of them underlined the importance of cross-border cooperation in this task
