European Regional Development Fund
The initiative was organized first in 2012 to promote the outcomes of Interreg within a wider audience. The campaign was a success with territorial cooperation programmes across the EU and beyond. On average, European Cooperation Day is celebrated by over 50 programmes, with more than 170 local events being organized in 35 to 40 countries each year. This year 2018 will be the 7th edition of the EC Day campaign.
European Cooperation Day shows the benefits of cooperation among regions by highlighting how cross-border, transnational and interregional cooperation projects are reducing obstacles and disparities. All these projects co-funded by the European Union have helped improve people’s lives along the many borders within Europe and beyond.
European Cooperation Day takes place every year on 21 September and the surrounding weeks.
