The conference will focus on the important milestones in the history of observatories in Hurbanovo and Tata.
Presentations will be in HU or SK languages (EN powerpoints will be available).
The Observatory is Hurbanovo, which has gone through three periods of development during its existence, is one of the oldest and most important astrophysical observatories in Europe.
This year marks the 150th anniversary of its founding. In the first period after its establishment, the founder of the observatory, Mikuláš Thege Konkoly, from 1871 onwards gradually built a private observatory with three domes. At the end of the 19th century, the observatory was one of the 7 most important observatories in Europe. At the beginning of the 20th century, the cooperation and friendship of Miklós Thege Konkoly and Károly Posztoczky began. Posztoczky built a private observatory in Erdőtagyosi, Hungary. The historical heritage of this observatory can be found in the Observatory and the Károly Posztoczky Museum in Tata.
The conference will focus on important milestones in the history of the observatories in Hurbanovo and in Tata, on the results achieved in various periods of the observatory in Hurbanovo (after 1871, after 1918 and after 1962) and on strengthening cooperation between project partners and the institutions cooperating with them.
