European Regional Development Fund
The InProTool project brought together five Slovak and Hungarian chambers of commerce and industry to increase the awareness of regional companies through a joint initiative and help them better orientate in the industrial property protection. Within the project the partners developed a new unique Slovak-Hungarian internet application focused on the pre-assessment of industrial rights, intended mainly for small and medium-sized enterprises, which often underestimate the protection of their intellectual property due to a lack of information.
Industrial property is a strategic tool to increase the company's ability to benefit from new and innovative ideas and their technical potential. In today's knowledge economy, a company's intellectual property protection strategy should be a key factor in its business strategy. Especially, small and medium-sized enterprises do not sufficiently protect their innovations due to a lack of information, or the wrong business strategy. Understanding the value and importance of industrial property enable companies to make full use of the potential arising from it, and thus increase their competitiveness in both domestic and foreign markets.
In the form of a questionnaire, the application accessible on www.inprotool.eu, guides users through various areas of industrial property rights and provides them with information and valuable advice on how and why to protect their intellectual property. The application also serves as an information base for industrial rights, where users can find information from the basic definitions of individual intellectual property rights to legislative standards and contacts to patent offices.
