In times of decreasing resources and growing responsibilities many cities and regions try to find new ways to understand and make a transition to a circular economy, which is both a necessity and an opportunity, with the potential to offer long-lasting economic, environmental and social benefits. Since the industrial revolution the economy has developed by the growth model ""make - produce - consume - take-off"". A circular economy offers an alternative model where the value of products, materials and resources is maintained for as long as possible and waste is significantly reduced or even eliminated. Circular economy (CE) and its basic principles are based on the idea that all product and material flows may be involved in life even after they have been used, they will become re-sources of new products and services. They maintain the resources in the economy even after the product has reached the end of its useful life so that they can be productive again and again and be used to form a sequence. Within this project we want to educate about all three parts of circular economy – how the products/energy is produced, how we can use it in a responsible way and how can we reach zero waste as a household, school, municipality or society. What is often forgotten is that the transition towards a circular economy calls for social innovation, as much as (and perhaps even more than) technological innovation. The suggested project brings this idea to schools for upcoming generations. Not only as a theory, but everyday practice in the daily life of the school including students and teachers as well. A crucial and visible step in the waste reduction is the establishment of collection and composting at each school. The project also includes cooperation between students from Slovakia and Hungary. The results will be called 'Circular school' as a part of the EU policy (Circular Economy Package, Urban Agenda etc.)
