Nagyrozvágy and Veľký Horeš are situated in the eastern periphery of their countries, they are both located along the border of the SKHU programme area. Nagyrozvágy can be found in the district of Bodrogköz in Hungary, while Veľký Horeš belongs to the Trebisov district in Slovakia.
The region they are situated in suffers from a significant deficit of north-south road connections. The direct road connection is missing between the two settlements for a ditch running along the border set up a natural barrier separating the two villages. Missing direct road connection forces the inhabitants to make bypasses to get across the border.
The project’s primer objective is to establish direct cross-border connection between Nagyrozvágy and Veľký Horeš. Specific objectives (SO) and expected results (ER):
The main output of the project is a 4,3 km long cross-border road transport infrastructure of which a 1925m long road covering 2x1 tracks will run on the HU side and a 2,3 km long road covering 2x1 tracks, will be constructed on the SK side.
Target groups benefiting the project directly will be inhabitants of the two settlements, pupils and students, workers and employees.
Indirect target groups are expected to include SMEs, agricultural producers (farmers) and suppliers, freighters (up to 3,5 t freight limit), public institutions, service sector. Annex 1, sec. 1.238 and Annex 1/a sec. 1.109 of 345/2012 (XII. 6.) Govt. decree of Hungary refers the project “Road links development between Nagyrozvágy (HU) and Veľký Horeš (SK)” to as a transport infrastructure development of national priority.
