The overall objective of the project is to strengthen and further improve the long-term cooperation between the two most important observatories in the Komárom-Esztergom County and Nitra County cross-border region - TIT Komárom-Esztergom County Association in Tata and Slovak Central Observatory in Hurbanovo.
Firstly, this project will improve the scientific knowledge by organizing joint professional programmes, knowledge transfer events, professional excursions and trainings, and by purchasing innovative equipment to carry out scientific observations. Secondly, this project will bring astronomy closer to people by promoting the activities organized by the observatories, such as public conferences, student competitions, outdoor presentations with portable telescopes or interactive exhibitions. The website and the brochures will also provide up to date information about the programs, and together the variety of promotional activities and materials will help to reach a wider target audience.
Both project objectives will be supported by the infrastructural investment in Tata, HU and the digitalization of museum showpieces in Hurbanovo, SK. The enlargement of the observatory will help TIT KEM to carry out scientific observations in order to provide help for the scientific work of SUH and to enlarge the synergies between the two institutions. It will also serve the general public, as there will be sufficient space to provide new services to the visitors and for the exhibition of the Posztoczky heritage in the museum. The creation of interactive QR codes optimized for smartphones in 2 languages (HU and SK) at the Museum of Mikulas Thege Konkoly will enable the visitors to gain more information about the pieces in a modern and fun way.
